What’s Obvious to You Is Gold to Someone Else
Nov 11, 2025
Sounds simple.
But it’s one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over 25+ years working across industries, disciplines, countries and cultures.
From founders to creatives, from account directors to c‑suite leaders, from superstars to social media leads. I’ve seen this play out over and over:
We build deep expertise in our own arenas.
We assume what’s obvious to us… is obvious to everyone.
We forget the muscle memory we’ve developed through repetition, context, and experience.
But here’s the truth:
Our “everyone knows this” might be someone else’s “no one ever told me that.”
This is a reminder for us all:
Don’t assume.
Be intentional.
Ask more questions.
Stay open to not knowing, because that’s where growth begins.
What’s something you recently thought everyone knew… but later realised they didn’t?
Let me know in the comments. Let’s share the gold!
