But I’ve now been fortunate enough to have helped countless people, from graduates to executives, use storytelling and their Origin Story to stand out in interviews.
And there’s one thing that has helped almost everyone:
Don’t just talk about what you did. Talk about what you've learnt.
Anyone can list achievements or responsibilities.
But when you share what you learned, you reveal self-awareness, growth, and humility, three traits every great employer looks for.
It’s the difference between saying:
“I managed a team of five people.”
and
“I learned how to listen, lead, and adapt when managing five people.”
One shows experience.
The other shows evolution.
If you’re heading into an interview soon, whether it’s your first job or your next one, remember:
Your story isn’t just about the past.
It’s about how your past has prepared you for what’s next.
